Introduction (February 25, 2014)
"Medical error" is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Over a hundred thousand people a year die from medications that have been properly prescribed. Staying healthy and pain-free clearly has benefits way beyond the obvious ones of greater longevity and improved quality of life.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have been used in Asia for many centuries, although they have only been available in the United States for (at most) a few decades. In contrast, chiropractic is a home-grown 19th century American practice that at one time butted heads directly with conventional drug-and-surgery-based medicine and now is finding its own niche in modern health care. Despite their different backgrounds, both of these systems of treatment are of great value and should have a place in everyone's self-care arsenal.
The purpose of my own practice has always been to keep my patients pain-free and functioning at their optimum levels. I have done this not only by providing safe effective alternative care in the form of chiropractic and now acupuncture treatment, but also by individual counseling on nutrition and different types of self-care. I have managed for many years to stay on the cutting edge of alternative health care without becoming engulfed in the latest fads -- I hope that this newsletter will help me to help you do the same.
