Forgot the Apple (July 15, 2014)
As you may recall, last week I listed a few effective non-pharmaceutical treatments for acid reflux (losing weight, finding and eliminating trigger foods, quitting smoking, elevating the head of the bed and not eating before bedtime), but I accidentally edited out mention of one folk remedy that I have found to work extraordinarily well. And that’s a raw apple. Eat one daily and/or when you are getting reflux symptoms. Since a daily apple is also good for lowering cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer and stroke, and keeps the doctor away generally, it’s worth trying.
